The All-Star Salute to 90's Country concert was held February 4, 2026 at Von Braun Center Arena in Huntsville, Alabama.

There was a packed house of around 6,000 fans

The tagline of “Honky Tonk Time Machine” was truth in advertising. The three and a half hour show was comprised of hits sung by -- with just a couple exceptions -- the artists who made the songs famous. And those singers delivered the goods.

The house band made the well-crafted tunes sound vibrant and now.

The concert got off to a rousing start. Aaron Tippin strode onstage to do “There Ain’t Nothing Wrong With The Radio,” his swaggering 1992 hit and first number one single.

Tippin sported an everyman look that would’ve worked just as well for fishing, tailgating or leaf-blowing.

The next performer, Highway 101 frontwoman Paulette Carlson, was decked out in classic country spangles. She sang “Who’s Lonely Now,” Highway 101’s sassy chart-topper. Her sweet vocal tone and stagecraft, intact.

The concert’s production matched the star-power. Several rectangular screens displayed imagery that looked like something from an awards show. A large diamond shaped lighting rig overhead looked like it was borrowed from a vintage Def Leppard tour. The sound mix was crystalline and balanced, and the volume didn’t melt eardrums.

Terry Bride of McBride & The Ride was up next. He sang “Sacred Ground,” the poignant strummy title track hit off the band’s ’92 sophomore album. McBride’s performance glowed with what makes great country music special: Songs that tell relatable stories, a singer that makes the lyrics connect, and twangy tight instrumentation.

Next, Bryan White got the crowd rocking with his classic “Sitting On Go” as he flashed his Jon Bon Jovi worthy smile. T. Graham Brown, who got his career toehold in the ‘80s, displayed gravitas and raspy R&B vocals on ‘90s ballad “If You Could Only See Me Now.”

The show was recorded for a TV special to be aired later.

Lee Roy Parnell delivered a killer version of his Allman Brothers-esque 1993 hit “On the Road.” He followed that up with ’92 breakthrough single “What Kind of Fool Do You Think I Am.” Parnell’s ramblin’ man vocals and slippery slide guitar provided some of the night’s highlights.

Lorrie Morgan sang her hit “Except Monday”. Morgan was all class in beautiful blue sequins.

The concert was steered by LMA Productions, the same company that’s also brought tributes honoring George Jones, Dean Dillon and Lee Greenwood to the VBC.

The siblings, The Forester Sisters, who haven’t toured in some 25 years, shifted gears with a shimmering version of “I Fell In Love Again Last Night.”  It was an awesome performance.

Ken Mellons kicked the pace back up with his ’94 boot-scooter “Juke Box Junkie,” prowling the stage and mugging along to hot fiddle and pedal-steel solos. Janie Fricke’s soulful “It Ain’t Easy Being Easy” was another standout performance.

Randy Travis was a huge star in ‘90s country. Unfortunately, health issues have left Travis physically unable to sing now. In his stead, Darryl Worley delivered an excellent take on Travis’ “Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart.”

Other performers in the first set included Carlene Carter, Andy Griggs, Lionel Cartwright, Wade Hayes, Rick Trevino, Ty Herndon, Larry Stewart, Richie McDonald and Tim Rushlow.

After an intermission, Kentucky Headhunters got the second set off to a slamming start. Their classic hit “Dumas Walker” had slashing guitar that would make Keith Richards proud. It shook up the arena crowd.

Later in the second set, Alabama native Jamey Johnson  sang a stirring version of the late great George Jones’ ‘90s hit “Choices.” Johnson dedicated the song to Nancy Jones, George’s firecracker of a widow, who was in the front row.

Heath Wright’s “Daddy’s Money” had the audience dancing and the backing band onstage cooking. Likewise, Rhett Akins double-dip of “That Ain’t My Truck” and “Too Much Fun” was a hoot.

Deana Carter hypnotized with a spellbinding “Strawberry Wine.”

Other second set artists included: Michael Peterson, Paul Overstreet, John Berry, Neal McCoy, Lee Greenwood, Tony Rich and Mark Wills.

A few artists, including Greenwood, made it a point to give props to all the Nashville songwriters behind many stars’ hits.

Tracy Byrd ended the show with a one-two of “Keeper Of the Stars” and raucous “Watermelon Crawl.”

It was a night for the record books.
