Spotlight On 2016 Craven Country Jamboree
Story and photos by Glen R. Forrester

2016 Craven Country Jamboree was held on July 14-17, 2016.

The big kick off party started in the Beer Garden with William and Ree (The Indian and The White Guy). They been together for three decades and they are American's favorite comedy team. Then after them, Chad Brownlee came on. He always lives in the moment and absorbing every minute. He makes his transition from former NHL draft pick to touring with Grammy-nominee Dierks Bentley all across the country.

Friday started off in the afternoon with Petric, two brothers from Manitoba. The two with beautiful harmony and rocking vibes are impacting on the country scene. Drake White, a song writer with a little of rock mix with his music.  He is backed up with a band called The Big Fire. Drake is currently working on a debut album to be release in 2016.  In the late afternoon, Marty Stuart came on the stage. Stuart has over forty years of experience.  He is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and photographer.  Kacey Musgraves hit the stage next.  She is a Texas native singer and song writer.  She wrote and co-wrote and also co-produced her last album.  Zac Brown Band ended the day.  They are three time Grammy winners and multi-platinum artists. They are the second band to top both country and active rock formats.

Saturday came around and Autumn Hill (Tareya Green and Mike Robins) came on stage. At a holiday party, they sang together and the chemistry was there so they started a group. They say it was a huge learning curve going from a solo artists to a duo group. Chase Bryant, a 22 year old Texan went on late afternoon.  His grandfather played piano in Roy Orbison's first two band and later with Waylon Jennings.  From the time he was a kid, the only thing he wanted to do is play music. The Swon Brothers hit the stage next. Zach and Colton grew up just down the street of American Idol, Carrie Underwood, and the brothers sang together throughout their childhood years. Evening came and Chris Young went on the stage.  He had five major label albums by the age of 30 and six number one's singles, seven Gold and Platinum certifications and has been nominated for the industry's most prestigious awards. To end the great day was Alabama. Three cousins from Fort Payne, Alabama (Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry, Jeff Cook). They have 43 number one singles including 21 number one singles in a row.  Now that is unreal for a group to do that. They put on a fantastic show and it was a great way to end the day.

Sunday, the last day of The Craven Country Jamboree, started with a singer/songwriter Steven Lee Olsen.  He has 3 top 20 singles, and a first top 3 single on the Canadian Country charts now.  He writes with the best in the business, like Garth Brooks, Craig Morgan, The Judds, Emerson Drive and many more. Kentucky Headhunters went on late afternoon and they are a bluegrass roots band. They had the crowd going with every song and had everyone singing along with them.  Jerrod Niemann, a Kansas born guy that went to Nashville because of his great songwriting and music, came on next. He did such a great job on stage and the crowd loved his performance. To end The Craven Country Jamboree was Eric Church. His performance was extraordinary, the crowd loved him.  He has received album of the year by both CMA and ACM, and was also Grammy-nominated for Best Country Album.  I will say this is one of his best concert I have seen him do.

I want to thank everyone backstage for making this article and pictures possible.
