CHARLES KELLEY DELIVERS "LONELY GIRL" WITH "SWAGGER" (NEW YORK TIMES) TO COUNTRY RADIO TODAY
Kelley To Perform Standout Rendition of the Track on the ACM Awards This Sunday
GRAMMY winning singer/songwriter Charles Kelley releases "Lonely Girl" to Country radio today from his "polished yet immensely supple" (NPR) solo album THE DRIVER (Capitol Records Nashville). Fans can catch a performance of the track that has both the New York Times and Rolling Stone applauding Kelley's "swagger," this Sunday (4/3) during the 51st Annual ACM Awards at 7:00P CT on CBS.
"I've been wanting to cut this song since I heard it about three years ago," shares Kelley. "At the time, it wasn't the right fit for Lady A, so when we started digging into my solo project, I knew it would be a big part of the record. It's not easy to follow Stapleton's demo, I mean he's the best singer in our genre, but I put my own little spin on it and it's turned out to be a favorite live."
Penned by Chris Stapleton and Jesse Frasure, the new song follows THE DRIVER's GRAMMY-nominated title track. Before hitting the road this summer with Lady A, Kelley will gear up for THE DRIVER TOUR picked up by Enterprise, with special guest Josh Kelley launching April 9 in Washington, D.C. at The Fillmore.
