Celebrity Spotlight County Music News Association News

Founded in 1958, the Country Music Association was the first trade organization formed to promote a type of music. The objectives of the organization are to guide and enhance the development of Country Music throughout the world; to demonstrate it as a viable medium to advertisers, consumers and the media; and to provide a unity of purpose for the Country Music industry.

For more than three decades, the Country Music Association has faced head-on the challenges dictated by the ever-changing world of music. Since its founding in 1958, CMA has become known as one of the premier trade organizations worldwide, aggressively working with the industry to establish Country Music as a mainstream musical format. The first trade association formed to promote a type of music, CMA is the leading force in making Country Music the most listened-to type of music in the United States. CMA, originally consisting of only 233 members, now has more than 7,000 organizational and individual members in 31 countries.

The association’s volunteer board of directors, all top industry leaders working in concert with CMA’s professional staff, focuses on strategic objectives: to guide and enhance the development of Country Music throughout the world, to demonstrate it as a viable business medium for advertisers, and to provide an ongoing public relations initiative for the Country Music industry. Member support and involvement are crucial factors in CMA’s successful track record.

As an extremely dynamic trade association, CMA’s activities throughout the year are numerous and varied; these activities include educational seminars, industry honors, international promotion and dissemination of facts and figures that evidence Country Music’s considerable popularity.
